ROBOTICS COMPETITION 

Introduction to Programming 
2017 - 2018

Educational project

10 junior-high Schools
 
Approximatively 400 students spread across 41 teams

from September 2017 to May 2018

Partnership with the Orléans City Hall



The overall target of the project is to get students to reflect on the value of digital and Enginneering domains, too rarely selected by girls.

Interest 

- Learn to be part of team and work remotely 
- Communication skills: Use of common tools (IBM community server dedicated to the project). 
- Document the work done.



Objectives 

 From September to May:
- Build a robot.
- Program the robot for the race : follow a predefined path and shoot at the targets.
- Maintain a blog up-to-date with the project status. 
- Document the project and prepare the final oral presentation.

In the morning:

Selection of the teams that will run for their junior-high school (qualification phase)
Presentation of the project to a jury during a ten-minute oral presentation.
Evaluation of the originality / creativity of each group.

Final run.
Recognition of winners.

The oral presentation is a great opportunity to grow


Students can interact with IBM professionals and share how they conducted the project throughout the year.

All 41 teams compete in the morning.
and 1 team per school remained for the final race
in the afternoon.

Retrospective 

Visit of the winners
in Paris







On June 5th, IBM Paris received the "Panda Mecano" and "Fashion Jo" for a discovery of technological innovations and a cultural visit in Paris.

In the morning

Allowed students visited the Global Industry Sercices Center (GISC) at Bois Colombes.


Our winners met the winners of St Nazaire and were happy to discover the Client Center.

In the afternoon

They went to the city of science and industry
at the Villette.


The IBM Volunteer Team is looking forward to seeing you next year
for the 3rd edition of the robotics competition.
